WhatsApp scope

Exactly how WhatsApp works in Appointly

WhatsApp is the primary customer channel. Owner-side alerts use email and Android push, not WhatsApp.

Customer gets a WhatsApp confirmation

Sent immediately after a booking is created — includes date, time, service, salon name and a manage link.

Customer gets a 24-hour WhatsApp reminder

Sent automatically 24 hours before the appointment. Reminder timing is fixed at 24 hours — custom intervals are not currently supported.

Customer gets a confirmation after rescheduling

If the customer reschedules from the manage link, a fresh WhatsApp confirmation is sent for the new slot.

Salon owner does not receive WhatsApp alerts

Owner-side alerts are email + Android push (where enabled). WhatsApp is used for customer-facing messages only.

Messages come from Appointly's WhatsApp Business sender

You do not need your own WhatsApp Business API account, template approval or Twilio setup — reminders depend on Appointly's production WhatsApp / scheduler configuration.

SMS is not used

SMS reminders are not currently supported. If your customers are not on WhatsApp, Appointly is probably not the right fit today.

How a booking flows

The end-to-end booking workflow

Same flow for every booking — link click, QR scan or Instagram bio tap.

    Salon sets up services, pricing (INR), opening hours and closed dates.

    Salon shares its booking link on WhatsApp / Instagram / Google Business Profile and prints its QR code.

    Customer opens the link, picks a service, date and time, and confirms with name + phone.

    Customer immediately receives a WhatsApp booking confirmation with a manage link.

    Owner receives an email alert and — where enabled — an Android push notification.

    The appointment appears on the shared calendar in the Appointly dashboard.

    Customer can reschedule or cancel themselves from the manage link, up to 2 hours before the appointment.
