Salon booking glossary

Booking page
A public web page where a customer can pick a service, date and time slot to schedule an appointment.
Appointment reminder
An automated message sent to a customer before their appointment so they show up on time.
Booking confirmation
The message sent immediately after a booking is created, confirming the service, date and time.
No-show
A booked appointment where the customer neither shows up nor cancels ahead of time.
Booking link
A short URL that opens the salon's public booking page.
QR booking
A printed QR code at the salon that scans to the booking page for walk-ins and repeat customers.
Salon calendar
The shared view of every booked appointment, ordered by time, that runs the salon's day.
Capacity booking
Booking rules that allow multiple appointments in the same time slot up to a set number of parallel customers.
Service duration
The length in minutes a service occupies on the salon calendar, blocking overlapping bookings.
Closed date
A specific date the salon is closed — festivals, staff leave, or unplanned closures.
Business hours
The weekly recurring schedule that says which hours on which days the salon accepts bookings.
Self-service rescheduling
A booking flow where the customer moves their own appointment without calling or messaging the salon.
WhatsApp reminder
An appointment reminder sent as a WhatsApp message instead of SMS or email.
Online booking
Any booking flow where the customer schedules themselves through a web page instead of calling.
Salon software
Software that helps a salon manage bookings, staff time, customer communication and daily operations.
