Definition

A no-show is a booked slot the customer does not attend and does not cancel with enough notice for the salon to rebook it. Unlike a late cancellation, a no-show gives the salon no chance to fill the chair.

Why it matters

No-shows are pure lost revenue for a salon operating fixed opening hours and paid staff. They also fragment the day: the stylist waits, the schedule idles, and the next booking may run late.

Common misconceptions

Common claimReality
Deposits are the only fix.Deposits help, but most Indian salons don't take them. Reliable 24-hour reminders and one-tap self-service rescheduling remove the majority of forgetful no-shows without changing the payment model.

How Appointly handles this

Appointly reduces no-shows with two shipped features: an automatic 24-hour WhatsApp reminder, and a link in the confirmation and reminder that lets customers reschedule without calling.
