Definition

A closed date takes a day off the booking page even if the weekly opening hours would normally show it as open. Diwali, Holi, personal leave and short renovations are all handled with closed dates.

Why it matters

The wrong day being bookable is worse than being fully closed — customers arrive expecting service, and staff have to explain and apologise. Closed dates prevent that.

Common misconceptions

Common claimReality
You have to change opening hours to block a single day.No. Closed dates target one date without changing your regular weekly schedule.

How Appointly handles this

Appointly lets you add closed dates for festivals, holidays and staff leave. The booking page skips those days automatically.

FAQ

Can I close half a day?

The current closed-date feature marks the whole day. For partial closures, adjust the weekly opening hours for that day.
